"Separation is the grandest illusion" -Chimera
Creator
Rhegino ("Ray-Gee-Know") is a visual artist currently based in New York, New York, whose creative practices mainly involve singular or conglomerative utilizations of painting, drawing, sculpting, and/or writing. The artist's primary focus as of 25' is design and textile oriented creation
Lore
The main elements which tie intrinsically with the artist's practice are 1. the concept of clothes as a visual language and 2. religious/mythological imagery
1. Material is a malleable substance which is treated and turned into fabric which is thusly turned into an article of clothing via pattern or design. In this way, all clothing is comprised of both an architectural component, or how something is made to suit the body, as well as an aesthetic component, which may be representative of an infinite number of different things. The two terms always maintain a distinct relationship with each other, sometimes working in tandem, other times operating in a commensal way. An item such as chainmail armor worn by one who is engaging in the knightly duty of battle is fulfilling the item's intended purpose; to defend the body against weaponry. The visual conversation in this scenario is the implication that the wearer is responsible for defending, perhaps the given monarch's family sigil is embossed upon their breastplate, their presence alluding to a battle to be fought or a post to be manned. A corset or a jacket which references the style of chainmail but stands to be worn by someone who exists in a post feudalism world (assuming they have no physical battles to fight) is automatically performing an aesthetic statement as the functional defense requisite has been removed. As there are continuous ongoing causes/reasons for which designers are influenced to reconsider, criticize, and/or uphold the architectural and aesthetic components of clothing, the artist intends to continue adapting to these challenges as they pertain to their world.
2. In an attempt to fathom the foundation, machination, and continuity of this world, mankind utilizes the constructs of both religion and mythology. The existence of god, or gods/goddesses, implements the requirement for their message(s) to be reached by those who live outside of their domain realm, hence messenger(s). In many cases, this is the role of the angel. Even the conceptualization of “angel” in itself draws varied levels of understanding within the hearer, as one’s most immediate recollection might be the common depiction of a man or woman or genderless being with feathered wings and a floating ring over it’s head, otherwise known as a “halo”. Another might account the original design for the angel, one who bears a singular round horn erected from twin points on it’s forehead, through which holy light is continuously projected, leaving the angel blind. There also exists a theory that angels operate from a dimension that is much more complex than our own, and so we are unable to actually interpret what they appear as in their true form, which may also contribute to why their historical documentation is as such, being illustrations of spinning rings (aka the thrones angel) or elongated wings surrounding a singular head (aka the seraphim angel).
The idea that these figures aren’t able to be perceived accurately through the mortal eye is an aspect which heavily inspires the artist, ruminating that one may hypothetically need to first become personally enlightened or go through a cycle of death and rebirth within themselves to attain the understanding of the symbols present in their work, and that the meaning will reveal itself over time. In a similar vein to how these beings speak for their respective god(s), the entirety of the world of RHEZRECHT, (which can also be referred to as Ezre World), is borne from the mind of the artist and thusly all of the symbolism and imagery the artist utilizes is an intentional means of dual speaking to their audience. In a manner less like an angel and more like a prophet, the artist is continuously contemplative about not only the messages they intend to express to the world, aiming to inspire unity, but also how their message is perceived and how it is considered.
Intention
The primary insignia of RHEZRECHT is the chimera, a mythological creature that is the singular body of various distinct animal parts. It is a metaphorical representation that all beings of this world may live as separate parts but constitute to one whole consciousness. The artist intends for their visual world to inspire reflection and unity.
